Las Vegas - Bright Lights Experience & Utah Canyons!
Day 1: Departure | Direct flight from Montreal (YUL) to Las Vegas (LAS).
Arrival & The Pink Oasis: Check-in at Flamingo Las Vegas, drop your bags at this classic 3-star resort, famous for its retro-chic vibe and central Strip location. Stroll around the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat to visit the hotel's lush 15-acre garden to see Chilean flamingos, pelicans, and exotic fish. Afternoon drinks in the pools! In the evening, walk across the street to Caesars Palace or next door to The LINQ Promenade and stroll along to find a nice dinner location to eat.
High Roller Observation Wheel: That is a perfect way to end your evening! Since the High Roller is located right at the end of the LINQ Promenade, it’s incredibly convenient to get to and from the Flamingo Hotel. The best time to aim for is sunset or just after dark. Watching the Strip transform into a sea of neon lights from the rotating observation wheel at 550 feet in the air is spectacular. The full experience takes about 30 minutes, so it’s a nice, slow pace to soak in the views. If you’re in the mood for a drink, you can purchase a “Happy Half Hour” ticket that offers special glass covered cabins with an open bar for the duration of the ride.
Day 2: South & Mid-Strip Hotel Tour
Exploring the Las Vegas Strip can be deceptively exhausting because the massive scale of the resorts makes everything look "closer than it is." To save your feet, it's best to divide your exploration into these three logical geographic zones.
South Strip Exploration: Start at the south end with the pyramid-shaped Luxor, the medieval-themed Excalibur, and the New York City skyline at New York-New York.
Mid-Strip Icons: Head north to Bellagio to see the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens and the iconic Fountains of Bellagio show.
Consider dining at Paris Las Vegas to view the half-scale Eiffel Tower.
Day 3: North Strip & Fremont Street Night
North Strip Tour: Visit the Italian-inspired Venetian Resort for a gondola ride through the indoor canals. Continuing to the high-end Wynn and Encore which focus on "floral fantasy." You'll find lush indoor gardens, massive floral carousels, and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook a private mountain.
Evening at Fremont Street Experience: Head downtown to see the original "Glitter Gulch." Catch the Viva Vision light show on the world's largest LED canopy and watch zipliners fly overhead.
Day 4: Relax & Awakening Show
Leisure Morning & Afternoon: Relax by Flamingo’s "GO Pool" or explore the nearby Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
Late Afternoon Gambling at the Slot Machines: Playing slot machines at the Flamingo Las Vegas in the afternoon still qualifies you for complimentary drinks, though it requires active play and a bit of patience. Many Caesars properties, including Flamingo, have implemented technology that tracks your rate of play. At bar-top machines, a light system (Red/Green) tells the bartender if your betting level qualifies as a "free" drink.
Evening Show: We head to the Wynn Las Vegas for "Awakening." What a performance that was!! This fantasy production is performed in a custom 360-degree theater featuring advanced technology, mythic storytelling and grand puppetry.
Day 5: Excursion to Bryce & Zion Canyons
Be ready for an early start! Since you are heading out from Treasure Island Hotel for a 13-hour journey to Utah, you’ve likely got a long but incredibly scenic day ahead of you. Headed north through the Virgin River Gorge-a dramatic section of the route where the road winds between massive limestone cliffs-keep your camera ready about 2 hours into the drive. Our bus stopped at the Zion Visitor Center; the views of The Watchman Mountain are iconic.
Since Bryce Canyon is at a much higher elevation (nearly 8,000–9,000 feet), it will be significantly cooler than Las Vegas or Zion. Make sure to bring a light jacket!
After our long excursions, we opted for a nice dinner at Gilley’s Saloon, Hall & BBQ. They offer a dance, Texas-sized portions of mesquite-smoked meats and Southwestern comfort food. Most entrées are served with two sides and cornbread. Dining there offered a patio view of the Las Vegas Strip. While the saloon is lively with bull riding and dancing, we had a long day and went back to the hotel to rest that evening.
